A new fortress was erected on the site of an earlier 4th century BC fortification, likely commissioned by King Philip II of Macedonia, which served as the capital of the First Bulgarian Empire during Tsar Samuel's reign in 2000 at the start of The 11TH century. It is now a major tourist destination and offers scenic views of Lake Ohrid and its historic city.
Founded in 200 BC, it was utilized as a spectacle venue and gladiatorial combat ground. Later, the Romans carried out executions for Christians. Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, locals abandoned and buried the theatre due to their dislike for it.
The Ohrid Boardwalk will connect the old town to Potpesh beach, and we will then return to our starting point. While walking on the edge of an unobstructed cliff, you can enjoy stunning views while strolling along its crystal-clear waters. In the town of Struga, the river discharges from the lake. Walk along the riverbanks tucked in with cafes and enjoy the picturesque town.
