Countryside Tour through Maipo Valley

We invite you to escape the city to immerse yourself in a tour to the deepest roots of the Chilean countryside. In the heart of the renowned Maipo Valley, you can have an experience of absolute connection with the traditions and typical customs of a rural and agricultural area par excellence in Chile.

Our expert local sommelier guide will be waiting for you at the meeting point to start the route towards Isla de Maipo, located 50 minutes away from Santiago. After arriving at Naltagua, we will visit an artisan dairy where you will learn how fresh cheese is made and you will partipate in the preparation of artisan bread which afterwards you will taste with butter, artisan dulce de leche, homemade jam, tea, coffee and milk. Then we will visit an agricultural area to reach a sprout of water where we will enjoy of a cheese and wine tasting in a complete natural surrounding.

Then we will go to the city’s downtown and we will visit an old house where it has been located for more than 100 years a famous chichería (the name that receives the place where chicha, a traditional drink similar to cider, is prepared). In this visit you will get to know their antique cellars, taste their chicha, pipeño and artisan liquors, and you will know from first hand, the best stories and feats of the Mesa family, one of the families with most tradition in the area.

For lunch time, we will visit a beautiful restaurant, Terramater, located in a familiar farm where there is an organic vineyard. We will taste their best recipes, their delicious wines and their awarded olive oils. The experience in Terramater ends with a selected tasting of their varieties, such as their Cabernet Sauvignon, their award-winning Zinfandel and their unusual Sangiovese.

To finish this country experience we will make a tour riding a carriage through the beautiful streets of Isla de Maipo. We will finalize our route in an old house that has the first grapes varieties museum called “Casona Alquería”, where they will teach us about the differences and characteristics of the vine that is harvested in the central valley. Afterwards their oenologist will guide a tasting, he will show us a selection of the best wines of his personal production.
