We set off from Reykjavík towards Thingvellir
Thingvellir (Þingvellir), Iceland's oldest national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a place of great importance.The Icelandic Parliament, Althingi, is the oldest parliament in the world. It was established in 930 AD at Thingvellir National Park. Crystal clear lakes, continental plates, underwater caverns, and volcanic terrain are just some of what you'll find at this natural wonder.
Strokkur is the most active Geysir in Iceland, the main attraction in Haukadalur hot spring area. Strokkur erupts boiling water as high as 30 meters (100 feet) every few minutes, making it a very remarkable scene to see. Haukadalur valley is also home to translucent blue pools, mud pots, and beautiful exotic-color mineral ponds.
The iconic Gullfoss waterfall is famed for its scale and beauty. Gullfoss is actually two separate waterfalls, the upper one has a drop of 11 metres and the lower one 21 metres. The rock of the river bed was formed during an interglacial period. On sunny days the mist creates shimmering rainbows, while in winter the falls glitter with ice. It will not disappoint and you are really going to enjoy seeing this beautiful waterfall!
Secret Lagoon is a unique geothermal oasis. The pool of gently steaming water is naturally heated to temperatures between 38-40° all year round. It’s probably the most de-stress activity you will undertake while in Iceland.
On the way back to Reykjavik we make scenic stop at Kerið Volcanic Crater. Kerið is a 3000-year-old volcanic crater filled with milky blue-green water. You will love your visit there!
