Kibera is East Africa's largest informal settlement, and has a long and interesting history. Your guide, Ochi, a former professional footballer, is well known throughout Kibera; he was born there and knows the place inside out.
You will meet Ochi at the Prestige Plaza shopping mall (Ngong Road), and from there you will walk to Kibera, while Ochi explains some basic rules for going into the slum (it's not dangerous, but it's good to know some basic do's and don'ts).
Ochi will take you through Kibera's network of narrow alleys, tell you about its history, and with him you'll find out firsthand how the local people live, as you will visit some homes and meet the locals. Or if you like, you could visit a local art studio, a shop, or a bar or restaurant. There will be a stop for tea or a soda, and at the end of the tour Ochi will walk you back to the shopping mall.
Please note this tour is not suitable for people with mobility issues; it involves a fair amount of walking over uneven paths.

Start the tour with a walking visit of Toi market, Nairobi’s biggest second-hand market. This market lies just next to Kibera slum and many residents of the slum get their daily bread from running small businesses within it.
Visit Beads Making business. There, you will see the amazing beadwork and also, get a chance to buy some of the handmade jewelry as souvenirs.
Proceed to Victorious Bone Crafts Group that has made a major impact to the community and environment at large. The group collects trash, repurposes it and turns it into treasure. The group collects both old and fresh bones from butcheries, brass and horns and transforms them into bowls, trinkets and jewelry. Kibera residents are innovative and resilient people as seen from this endeavor.
Later in the day, visit a typical Kibera house with the help of a guide. Through this, you will be able to interact one on one with the residents and get to know about their daily life experiences, and what life is like at the slum

Visit the Soweto village homestead, then continue to Curio Workshop where you will witness those who live in Kibera are innovative in making ornaments out of animal bones. Continue with the visits to the nursery schools and pass by to see the water vendor.
You will come past Nairobi National Park which is known for many species of wildlife e.g. lions. You can experience game drives too.

Feel welcome in one of the Kibera houses and ask questions about day-to-day life in Kibera. Walk and see a biogas plant, which uses human waste as raw materials in the production of biogas used in cooking, gas as well as lighting about 200 households once it is accomplished and commissioned.
