The village is home to a local communities of Rastafari, and it along the Montego River, outside of Montego Bay, St. James.

At the Rastafari Indigenous Village you learn about Rastafari customs, heritage and rich culture. Never before have you seen such resilience, warm, love & the resolve to keep the Rastafarian movement alive after been heavily criticized and brutalized by other groups during & after the 1930’s when the movement started in Jamaica, hence the song done by the reggae legend Bob Marley "Rasta Man Live up". Rastafari is rightly associated with Jamaica, for the religion was born here in the 1930s. Rastafari is an Abrahamic faith that adheres to much of The Bible, though Rastafaris worship Haile Selassie I, former emperor of Ethiopia. Arguably the best-known Rastafari is the late Bob Marley. The international star introduced much of the world to the tenets of Rastafari, including the smoking of ganja (marijuana), which the Rasta consider a spiritual act.
