What makes Luang Prabang Day Tour, Laos a unique experience ?
This morning, your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby in Luang Prabang and then take you to appreciate some renowned temples.
The first attraction you will visit is the Wat Sene, also known as the Temple of 100,000 Treasures, is a Thai-style temple built of golden and red tiles.
Later, visit the grandest and best-known Wat Xieng Thong where Lao usually hold ceremonies during the New Year from April 13th to 16th. This temple fully shows the local architectural features with steep three-layer roofs and golden bas-reliefs carved on the black walls. The famous "Tree of Life" inlaid with colorful jewels and glasses can be found on the outside wall of the main hall.
Afterwards, your guide will accompany you to take a boat to the Pak Ou Caves. En route, stop by Ban Xang Hai Village, also known as "the Whiskey Village". There you can taste the Lao-Lao, a Laotian rice wine, and watch the process of making it. Upon arrival at Pak Ou Caves, you can find thousands of Buddha statues worshiped in the caves. During the return trip to the downtown area, you will visit another village, Ban Phanom, which is famous for the traditional skills of hand-woven crafts.
Afterwards, head for Wat Mai, where an emerald Buddha statue is enshrined. The ornate pillars and golden bas-reliefs of the front porch are quite impressive. These reliefs depict Buddhist legends, country life of Laos, and stories from Ramayana.
Then drive you to Wat Visoun, the most prosperous and oldest temple in Luang Prabang. Its construction work was ordered by King Visounnarath and completed in 1513. You can also find the Stupa of Great Lotus standing in this temple, which is also known as "the Watermelon Stupa" because of its unique appearance. Then follow our guide to tour around the nearby Wat Aham.
Then your guide will escort you to visit the Royal Palace Museum which combines the architectural styles of Laos and France together. It was built in 1904 and served as the emperors' bedchamber till 1975. Nowadays, this grand palace becomes a national museum, displaying various royal religious ornaments and valuable Buddha statues collected from India, Cambodia, and Laos. Your private Luang Prabang day tour will end here. Your driver will escort you back to the hotel.
