Kauai Highlights-Small Group Tour-A taste of the South + West

The Kauai Highlights is a small group tour lead by a local family business. Is the perfect tour for a shore excursion, and a great bang for your buck. Shared tours available only on Thursdays, private tours available Mon-Sat. We will take you on a journey to enjoy the highlights of Kauai's South and West. Marvel at the power of nature as we share with you legends, history, culture and the geology of our islands. A day filled with many leisure stops, and opportunities to eat and shop local. Included on this tour are several stops at the famous Waimea Canyon, the Spouting Horn, Kauai Coffee and more. See full route details under "What to Expect". Our adventure begins with a drive through the famous Poipu Tree Tunnel, followed by a visit to the beautiful Spouting Horn, an extinct lava tube that became a water geyser. Marvel at the power of nature as the waves crash on the shore and water rushes through the tube. Your guide will share the legend of the site, sound effects and all.

Second in our agenda is a visit to the charming and historic Hanapepe town. Here you will have time to walk across the famous swinging bridge, built in 1912, enjoy some pastries at a local bakery, and visit some of the local art galleries and souvenir shops. For Disney lovers, this is the town of Lilo & Stich.

Waimea Canyon State Park is one of Kauai's gems, known as the mini Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Here we will make 3 stops, including the main lookout at 3400 feet elevation. You will see the Canyon from various angles and also the Forbidden island of Niihau from afar. Many stories will be shared and fabulous pictures taken. Majestic beauty at its finest!

Around 12:30-1 pm we will head to the beautiful grounds of the Waimea Plantation Cottages built in the early 1900's during the sugar plantation days. Overlooking at the blue Pacific Ocean and many tropical trees, we will enjoy delicious lunch at famous Chicken in a Barrel, with the largest beer wall on island. We will take a leisure stroll through the property to visit Waimea Bay, one of our few black sand beaches, and Captain Cook's first landing place in Hawaii.

After lunch, get ready to visit the magical world of coffee at the largest plantation in the USA, Kauai Coffee Co. Sample many roasts for free at the visitor center, take a stroll through the coffee tree garden, and shop for a wide selection of the freshest beans at their gift shop. Don’t like coffee? Enjoy an ice cream or cold beverage at the snack shop.
