What makes Juneau, The Last Frontier Self Guided (Smart Phone App/GPS) Audio Walking Tour a unique experience ?
The tour starts here, you'll hear the story of Wyatt Earp, his gun, the gold rush miners and how they found their fortune.
This old hotel has a long history in Juneau. It's been the primo spot to stay and celebrate. And it's been a run and gun brothel. And everything in between.
We will stop by the outside and see the amazing first nation inspired building and hear the story.
We will stop outside the museum and see the totem pole and learn the story of totem poles in Alaska. You'll also learn about the museum and feel free to pause the tour and visit.
The tour takes you to the front doors of the state capital and shares a few facts of the building.
On the top is the Wickersham House State Historic Site, the home was built in 1898, and it was the home to Judge James Wickersham. Judge James Wickersham helped bring law and order to the gold rush towns of Eagle, Fairbanks, and Nome.
This is the Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church. Interesting little fact, while the land of Alaska was a Russian colony from 1784 to 1867, Russians did not settle in this area. We will stop outside, check out the amazing building and learn it's story.
The tour will then end here, before you'll hear about how Jack London came to Juneau, and his time in Alaska.
