Elephant Trunk Hill is located at the west bank of the Li River. It gets its name because it looks like a huge elephant dig its trunk into the river. The hill is 55 meters high, 108 meters long, 100 meters wide and has an elevation of 200 meters above sea level. The Elephant Trunk Hill is regarded as the symbol of Guilin City. Between the elephant trunk and the elephant legs there is a bright huge cave, namely, the Shuiyue (water & moon) Cave. Under the moon light, the shadow of the cave is like a moon in the river. Thus there are two moons in the river. Out of the Shuiyue Cave, stepping to the slope, there is a cave going through the hill, like the eye of the elephant, hence the name Elephant's Eye Rock. On the top of the hill there is the Puxian (Samantabhadra) Pagoda built in the Ming Dynasty. Looking from afar, the pagoda is like the handle of a sword, also like a vase, so it is also called Jianbing (sword handle) Pagoda or Baoping (Vase) Pagoda.

Named after General Fubo of the Han dynasty, Fubo Hill stands overlooking Guilin city. It is 120 metres long, 60 metres wide and 213 metres high. Located on the west bank of Li River, it's half submerged yet still standing elegantly over the river. The hill itself has stairs that lead to the top. Halfway up the hill is a small pavilion which looks over the surrounding neighborhoods. On the top of the hill, there is another pavilion which was first built in Tang Dynasty with a spectacular view of the city, the Li River and the mountains scattered around Guilin City. Pearl Returning Cave is located at the base of Fubo Hill. A boat ride into the green waters of the cave would engross the tourist with the Buddha paintings and rock formations like no other. There is also another cave, the Thousnad Buddha cave which is 133 square metres big and houses more than 239 Buddha Statues spread over three tiers, which are hidden and enveloped inside Fubo Hill.

Covering an area of more than 120 hectares, Seven Stars Park is the largest and the most-visited park in Guilin. The name of Seven Stars, is derived from the fact that there are four peaks on Putuo Hill and three peaks on Crescent Hill, which replicates from the seven stars in the Ursa Major constellation. Within the park, the mountains are of great beauty, the waters are clean, the stone peaks are precipitous, and the caves are deep. The major scenic spots there are Floral Bridge, Putuo Mountain, Seven Stars Rock, Camel Peak, Yueya Mountain, Longyin Cave and Guihai Forest of Steles. Floral Bridge is the oldest bridge in Guilin. Camel Hill is another attraction in the park. This natural formation is called Camel Hill because this limestone outcrop looks really like a camel. Seven Star Cave is located inside the Putuo Hill. The Cave is famous for the various shapes of magnificent stalactites formation with a temperature of 20'C remained all year around inside the cave.

Solitary Beauty Peak stands in solitary grace at the center of the ancient Mansion of Prince Jingjiang (a noble family in the Ming Dynasty). Towering from the ground with an elevation of 216 meters, it is reputed as Sky-Supporting Pillar in the South. During the Southern Dynasty (420-589), some 1500 years ago, Yan Yanzhi, governor of Guilin, wrote the line: none can surpass this solitary peak in beauty, hence the name Solitary Beauty Peak. At the foot of the peak are Dushu (Study) Rock, Taiping (Peace) Rock and Yueya (Crescent) Pond. On the eastern side of the hill there are many inscriptions from the Qing dynasty, such as Southern Sky-Supporting Pillar and Purple Gown and Golden Belt. A flight of 396 stone steps leads from the west foot of the hill up to the top, where you can get a panoramic view of the whole city and all the mountains surrounding it.

The two rivers are Li River and Taohua (Peach Blossom ) River. The four lakes are Rong (Banyan Tree) Lake, Shan (Chinese fir) Lake, Gui (Osmanthus tree) Lake, and the Mulong (Wooden Dragon) Lake. These lakes and rivers are linked up and formed Guilin's central round-the-city water system. The Two Rivers and Four Lakes make Guilin just like a grand beautiful park. The Ancient South Gate of Guilin stands by the Rong Lake. There are two identical arched marble bridges located in front of the Ancient South Gate across the Rong Lake.
