Guinness World Records determined that Baldwin Street’s nearly 35-degree gradient is the steepest street in the world.
Dunedin railway station is a prominent landmark and tourist site in Dunedin, a city in the South Island of New Zealand. It is speculated by locals to be the most photographed building in the country, as well as the second most photographed in the southern hemisphere, after the Sydney Opera House.
Otago University was established in 1874 and is the oldest of the New Zealand universities. The Clock Tower is a distinguished piece of architecture dating from 1878 and features an early use of local basalt stone on a dramatic and large scale, emphasising the value placed in Otago on higher learning. Although the interior has been largely altered, its exterior remains mostly unchanged and along with the Chemistry Building, the School of Mines and Marama and Allen Halls, forms part of an outstanding group of well related buildings which was erected in the period of Dunedin's pre-eminence and prosperity.
Sandfly Bay is a bay with large dunes, 25 km from the centre of Dunedin on the Otago Peninsula. The beach is a popular site for Hooker's Sea Lions and penguins.
