Among the innumerable options that the Nahuel Huapi National Park offers, there is a little-known route but no less spectacular for that.
From Bahía López, 25 km from Bariloche, you can get to the Brazo Tristeza by motor boat. There, if the day is clear, you can see the glaciers at the top of Cerro Tronador, the highest in the park. When we reach the end of this Arm, we descend to land to walk a path through a dense forest, in which species known as the coihue and the cane alternate. Then we arrive at the Frey Stream Cascade. The flow of this stream varies according to the time of year, producing a peculiar and characteristic sound, which is generated when the water runs between wells, on a bed of rock polished by years of erosion.

After a scenic 30-minute boat ride, you will arrive at Puerto Anchorena, situated in the central and narrowest part of Victoria Island, home to its service center. Crossing the banks of the Gutiérrez and Mascardi lakes, and crossing the Manso river bridge, we arrive at Pampa Linda, a mandatory stop for lunch (not included). Towards the end of the road we arrive at the foot of the highest hill of the National Park, characterized by the sound produced by the breaking and detachment of the glaciers lodged in its summits. From this point you can see the Manso Glacier, which generates the “Ventisquero Negro”, reaching the end of the route.

We will go to Lake Steffen, where we embark to navigate the Manso Inferior River for about 17 km and then have lunch on the banks of the river, following the navigation we will be able to enjoy the warm water (18 ° C in summer) very crystal clear and with smooth and fun rapids, then from about 3 to 4 hours. On the river we will arrive at Piedra Pintada, where a picnic awaits us with fried cake, pudding and homemade sweets, tea, coffee, or something cool to drink.

Passing Villa Mascardi, turn right and you can follow a path surrounded by native forests. It is an area of exceptional beauty, visited every year by lovers of mountains and fishing.
Upon reaching the Manso River, you can stop at the Los Rapidos Bridge to watch trout swimming in a rush in the crystal clear water.
From there you can see the upper Manso river valley in almost all its extension, with its meandering course and greenish-colored waters. Continuing to Pampa Linda, you will find a beautiful place where you will find accommodation and gastronomy services. From there you can see other Tronador glaciers.
The ascent continues until you reach the last viewpoint of the route, the Ventisquero Negro, a glacier that descends from the Tronador and stands out for its dark color.
