What makes Family day in Alpaca farm in Shamakhy a unique experience ?

This is an exciting journey for those who do not like a long road. The distance from Baku to Shamakhi is 122 kilometers, or an hour and a half. We want to show you the Alpaca farm. These cute creatures appeared in Azerbaijan quite recently. Alpacas were brought to Azerbaijan on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva. The new residents liked the nature of Shamakhi very much. Now alpacas are successfully bred in Azerbaijan. On the farm you can organize a photo session. In addition to the alpaca farm, we will stop near the mausoleum of Diri Baba, near Yeddi Gumbez, and also go to the Abgora wine restaurant, where you can have a delicious lunch. And then we will drop you at the meating point.

The mausoleum stands in a square located on a glyptic cliff. The building is two-storeyed. There is a fragment of a ligature, indicating a date – the year 1402, and also a part of the architect’s name – “…the son of ustad Haji” – in one of the squinches. Many legends and myths are connected to this place. Diri Baba mausoleum was decorated with a mosaic and effective ligature by a calligraphist called “Dervish”.

is a cemetery located 1,5 km south to Şamaxı where three mausoleums from “Yeddi Gumbaz” group are still saved. Other mausoleums of the group are partly destroyed and are without cupola or walls. The mausoleum belongs to the beginning of the 18th century. This architectural monument was built for a family of Mustafa khan – the last khan of Shamakhi. The name of the architect – ustad Taghi – is also known due to a ligature on the mausoleum. The monument belongs to Shirvan-Absheron architectural school.
