There are some places in New Zealand that you just have to go to. Not on tourist track..Pickup, thru Viaduct Harbour area and around Westhaven Marina, across the Harbour Bridge to Takapuna and its beach/restaurant area. Then to Orewa for more golden-sand beaches. Onto Puhoi for the famed hotel and excellent early-settlers church. See coastal views from Waiwera Hill (a great photo spot) onto Warkworth, a charming riverside village.

Then to Matakana, Morris, and famous MorrisJames Pottery. Then to a place where we all want to live, Jackson's Bay. Then Leigh Harbour is a magnificently picturesque place. To the top of Pakiri Hill for views of Northern beaches and south...Back to Matakana (shops, restaurants, and the Saturday market).

The if time to Brick Bay Hill is more stellar viewing. If time permits, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (current home of the Americas Cup)
