Traditional Yosegi Coaster Making

Traditional Yosegi Coaster Making
“Yosegi Zaiku” is a traditional Japanese marquetry technique originating from Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. This craft involves creating intricate geometric patterns by combining pieces of wood of different natural colors and grains . I and my son participated in yosegi coaster-making activity . This activity can be enjoyed by the whole family. Before making the yosegi coaster, I was worried if my son(he is 6 years old) could actually do it. But once he started, he became very focused and enjoyed making it a lot. He took the coaster at home and he use it as a coaster to place his cup on. He also show it off to my dad at home. If there are parents who are worried, don’t be. I’m sure your child will enjoy making it. People of all ages, from adults to children, can enjoy it. It will become a wonderful memory.
