The city of Bamberg has several sights, not only because the Historic City of Bamberg has been recognized by UNESCO as a historical heritage, but also because the city has managed to preserve its medieval character over time.

Its historic city center has been a listed UNESCO world heritage site since 1993. This makes Bamberg one of just twelve sites in Germany and one of the 400 sites worldwide that have been recognized in this manner.
