The Phoenix Tucson Box Canyon Tour happens in Florence, Arizona, about halfway between Tucson  and Phoenix on State Route 79. On this day trip we will travel to the famous Apache Trail. An old trail, the Apache tribe used in the late 1800’s as well as a road built for prospectors and wagons traveling through the area. You as our guest will enjoy the majestic Superstition Mountain range as well as the beautiful Sonoran desert backdrop. We will venture to the old gold mining ghost town of Goldfield, witness breathtaking vistas in the mountain range of the Superstitions and let you take a 90 minute sightseeing steamboat ride on Canyon Lake. This day tour gives you the chance to venture north from the Phoenix area to see several historical sites that visitors come from around the world to see. This allows you to experience several interesting locations that are so important in the history of Arizona. Our first stop will be at Walnut Canyon National Monument where you will have a chance to learn more about the area in the visitor center and also walk the upper trail that takes you right to many ancient dwellings right on the trail. Then off to the Meteor Crater which is such a unique experience to see and be able to walk right out and stand on the edge. For those that are seeking a more genuine tour, with a locally based tour company, this day is designed to focus solely on the Grand Canyon coming from Sedona, along the way up we drive within the glorious Oak Creek Canyon, passing through Flagstaff while sharing geology and history info the entire way. We then stop for lunch at Cameron Trading post within the historic Dine’ (Navajo) reservation then enter first into the East Gate. We then visit 4 points of interests along the canyon and learn the geology, geography, and history/mystery of the Natives and settlers, finally exiting the park at the South Gate. It’s biggest advantage is a local guide that has studied all the relevant subjects, making the tour as comprehensive as possible and visiting more sites than most other tours, thus having the most amount of experience one could have while visiting the Grand Canyon!

Your tour beings at the Grand Canyon airport in Tusayan, Arizona. Fly over the ponderosa pines of Kaibab National Forest on a 45-minute helicopter excursion from the Grand Canyon South Rim. Upstream on the Colorado River are views of the Painted Desert and Desert View Watchtower.
